Museum Café Mokum is just behind Kalverstraat, Amsterdam’s main shopping street. In one of many alleys you’ll find a hidden courtyard. It is part of the Amsterdam Museum, devoted to the history of the city.

For over three centuries,  the city’s orphans played in this secluded courtyard. Today, café Mokum is a wonderful place to escape the crowds, smack in the middle of downtown.
